Facebook Befriending

So I have to admit - I've become a bit of a Facebook addict. I love seeing what others have posted, what they are doing, what pictures they have posted. But I'm seeing a bit of a phenomenon that has me scratching my noggin. I have been getting friend requests from people I went to high school with. This is all well and good, but some of them - 'scuz me - you didn't give two craptastic cents about me when we were in high school. Are you using me to raise your Facebook popularity? It's not like they are going to call me up and say "You. Me. Drinks. Let's go". It's not a pet peeve of mine persay, but I just find it freaking hilarious. I think people do it more out of morbid curiousity. It's like going to your high school reunion (which I must admit - I refuse to go to. Gives me the heebs just thinking about it). People go to those to see who's married, who's divorced, who got fat, who got hot, all that jazz. Facebook makes it easier than spending the $50 to hang out at a Holiday Inn with people you spent four years trying to get away from.
